Holiday Cheer!

So, we may have taken 300 pictures at different times since July, but we finally got a few contenders on Sunday for the honor of adorning this year's Christmas cards. I had to post this one, though, because although my children are smiling in the photo we chose, this picture is much more indicative of the 299 we didn't. Most of you will just nod when I try to explain how difficult it is to get everyone looking and smiling at the same time - preferably with a clean face and without a finger inside a nose, so I won't detail each day's attempt. However, notice the face of each child. This would be something around #290, and probably the 8th individual day we'd tried pictures, and by then their faces and feelings here closely mirrored my own! ;-)

I am so relating to this, but sadly after 300 tries, I still am lacking the one shot that everyone is looking at the camera. I have tried 3 times this past week with the kids in their matching Sunday clothes and all are a no go. I emailed my parents my best option and they quickly said- you had better try again.

I love the posted picture because it really is the truth about Christmas portraits!

I think with 3 kids and 300 tries for us, it's okay if you don't get all five of yours looking until you're closer to 500... except Trey seems to have looking and smiling down to a fine art, so maybe 400. ;-) And actually, in the one we chose, I didn't get everyone looking, either. But their faces are washed and their hair is combed, so that was good enough. I was tempted to just send out the one I posted here!
