So, because of a friend's recommendation, my kiddies and I spent the afternoon on YouTube watching "Wicked", and I am certain I need to see this musical. I know, I know. I'm behind the times when it comes to this one. Let me tell you my sad story.
A couple of years ago, when Audrey was just a newborn, Wicked came to Saint Louis over Thanksgiving and I splurged on tickets for Justin and I to have a night out. I debated the performances the day before and the day after Thanksgiving, and decided to go with the Friday night one - probably because I worried the night before Thanksgiving would be crazy, as we dined alone usually in Saint Louis and as such did the entire dinner ourselves. I purchased the tickets and marked my calendar, so when they came in the mail I just tucked them away in a folder all pleased with myself. Now, we didn't get out much at the time, so I have to emphasize I was really excited!
That night, Justin had gone to pick up our babysitter, when I finally pulled out the tickets to put them in my purse, and I took just long enough looking at them to see WEDNESDAY written in bold letters that seemed suddenly larger than everything else on the paper. I to this day am not certain how I did that. Of course over the holiday the performances were completely sold out, and I couldn't even get anyone at the theater to call me back. Of course, it wasn't their fault I'd written the date on my calendar without checking the tickets when they came! I completely lost it, and when my husband returned with our sitter, he found me sitting at the kitchen table just sobbing. You know, post-partum craziness and all, I was a real mess!
We still went out that night - I mean, we already had a babysitter lined up, so no matter how awful you feel, what else do you do? I think we got dinner and icecream or something. But I've all but boycotted the musical since then out of some weird vindictiveness I'm just now getting over. So, all that said, I've decided I really like the play, what of it's on YouTube, and maybe it's time to try it again. ;-) Maybe I should start looking for summer internships in Chicago...

I'm so glad you've forgiven the musical. Wicked is one of my absolute favorites. I saw it in New York and plan on seeing it at least once here in England. It's awesome!
I was looking the other day online and it seems it's heading BACK to saint louis over the holidays, but I see no plans to come here! I may just have to take a trip...
That was the saddest story ever! I am so sorry. I can't imagine the panic and saddness you must have felt. We'll have to start up a "Wicked for Laura" campaign and get you some tickets and a babysitter!!
Cheryl, you and Amanda should just get practicing, and the next time you're both in Utah I'll settle for a private performance. ;-)
