Three games of sesame street chutes and ladders, one of candyland, two hours of conference bingo, a box of spiderman cheese nips, about 1000 stickers and a half a tube of toothpaste later (don't ask), we're basking in the glow of another finished session of LDS general conference. I love conference with my kids, and they're really good considering it's long and hard for them to really get into, but sometimes the sigh of relief when it's over isn't theirs. ;-) Thank heavens for TiVo!
But seriously, I loved conference! I thought Elder/President Eyring's talks on keeping histories was really inspiring, and thus, here I am again at the computer three months after my last post. I have that experience all that time - you know, that one where you're prompted that your experiences aren't for your learning alone - and unlike President Eyring I've ignored it all too often. So I'm starting my journal again here at home, and hoping to do better at the blog as well.
Justin returned from the NSHMBA conference in Houston yesterday, where he spent the last couple of days schmoozing his way into summer marketing internship interviews with some of the most well-known companies out there, including General Mills, Target, SC Johnson, Pepsico, Nestle, Kraft and Johnson&Johnson. He said it was a great experience, largely because of his great experience with Black & Decker, and that he really generated a lot of interest from recruiters. He even came home with a bag full of random freebies from the booths he gave out to his ever-appreciative children causing much happy-happy-joy-joy in our home. All in all, whether he gets one of these internships offered, or something from somewhere else, it seems to have been a great confidence-builder if nothing else. He's slept all day today so it must have really been a workout walking around that large expo center, too. ;-) Truly, I feel so blessed to have married such a wonderful guy, and am really proud of all the work he's taken on with school and the great husband and dad he is in his few spare minutes. I'm equally grateful to have such fun, wonderful kids and I LOVE that their favorite thing in the world at this age is playing with each other and with me! I'm certain I'm the luckiest mom I know. :-)

Laura, your kids are darling. I too was inspired by President Eyring's talk and plan to blog about it soon. I'm glad you're getting back in the swing of things. I now have one more person to keep in touch with, and here in England I need all the friends I can get. Thanks for your post.
Laura,
I'm glad you found us!
Somehow, the day we were driving to move to CA, your mom ran into one of our mom's (I can't remember if it was Joe's or mine). Anyway, whoever it was they told your mom that we were moving to the Sacramento area and your mom called and told Sam. Your mom must have gotten Joe's cell phone number because Sam called Joe while we were driving. Crazy stuff! We ended up going to dinner with Sam and then they came the next day to help us unpack some things. They came to our house for dinner on Father's Day and Sam was a lifesaver helping us with our move here to Woodland. Anyway, in a nutshell, it's amazing for me to think about the "tender mercies of the Lord" because how else do you explain that one? It was fun to get to know Erica and their cute girls. I need to call and find out what they're expecting next. That is if they are the "finding out type." Anyway, happy to connect with you. It's good to see you are doing well. It would be interesting to be back in Provo again with kids. We haven't lived there since our first was about 10 months old. So I guess that would be about 5 years????
It's such a small world!!! And about living away, we must be living parallel lives of sorts, because that's about how long we've been away, too. I'm glad you're enjoying California!
