Can you read that? I'll give you a hint - the picture and word puzzle are related, both to each other and to our night last night. The picture at the top creates a visual illusion of "snakes" rotating. I don't know that I believe they look like snakes, but I'm totally seeing rotation this morning.
Apparently we have snakes at our house. I don't know where she picked up this insane fear, but Audrey's seeing snakes everywhere. I've heard now of snakes in the bathtub, snakes in the toilet, and snakes in the closet and under her bed. Last night they were nocturnal and kept us up every few minutes for yet another night until Justin and I both about lost it completely. She finally fell asleep with her pillow and blanket on our floor about 3am, just in time for my dance with Matt to begin. What do you do about a two-almost-three-year-old who absolutely will NOT stay in bed? In my irrational tired head right now, tying her down tonight seems like a completely viable option. Please tell me there's another way because I'm drawing blanks.
Oh, and just in case your dad didn't teach you this during some boring meeting growing as a kid, the lines above read:
'em are snakes...
'em are NOT snakes...
oh 'es 'ay are...
see 'em beady little eyes?
'em are snakes...

Oh, sorry about the snakes. We actually, with Ri, (gasp) turned his door handle around and locked him in. It only took a couple times and he decided it was much easier to sleep in his bed than to pound on the door and cry. Then we didn't have to lock it--just shut it. He did have his own room at the time though. And he wasn't "afraid" of something, either. I don't know if that would make it too traumatic. We do try to limit the emotional damage we do to our children, don't we?
In answer to your question, yes, we try to make Friday nights special. In fact, I was just coming up with other ideas to mix it up--like Italy Night (France, Honduras, Hawaii, China, etc.) where we learn something fun about the country, look at their flag, listen to music during dinner (of native food), locate it on a globe, make a craft or something. Also, color nights (who doesn't like an entirely green meal?), Theater Night (we'll act out a simple story), stuff like that. The kids totally look forward to Fridays. Kind of like a purely FUN version of FHE. I'm sure you'd have awesome ideas!!
Sorry about your lack of sleep. Maybe you guys could make sure there aren't any snakes around - y'know, have Justin go around with a spray bottle of "snake spray" (we might recognize it as water!) and have him spray for snakes. It might work and if it doesn't, well I'll say it again - sorry about your lack of sleep!
I can feel your pain. I hope you get some sleep. And soon.
We were too busy making paper airplanes in sacrament meeting...
I am thinking about taking the kids back up to the aquarium the first for March, they are opening a new display the 28th of February. I would love you to come with us. Just let me know if you are up for it. I want to go before this baby gets here. Give me a call at my mommies house. I can't believe we are living with my parents, I feel like such a mooch! Hopefully we will find a house soon.
