So, I'm thinking about starting a feature on my blog for "Stuff I Learned on Pinterest." We've had a lot of fun at our house the past couple of weeks with glow-in-the-dark baths, triple decker cookie dough-oreo-brownies (that were actually terrible, in case you wondered), fluffy feathered boa wreaths and now finally tonight, water marbled nails. They're not exactly salon quality but let's face it, my nails never are. And the picture is lacking. But Audrey and I had a blast tonight picking out colors, swirling them and creating these masterpieces. I love having a girly girl. While Izzie thought the nails were cool she had no interest in doing her own and I can respect that. But I loved the hug I got from Audrey when she told me how excited she was to show her friends at school tomorrow her pretty nails. Hers are red, pink and teal and also turned out very pretty.
So I've been thinking. On the one hand I think Pinterest is great because it's a mecca of creativity. One person suggest something, someone else builds on it, etc. But when everyone is working together that way, do we ultimately lose the creativity spawned by the uninfluenced individual? When looking for valentine ideas for the kids, I totally opened pinterest and pulled ideas from there. Would I have come up with something cute on my own? Maybe. In that case the world may be missing something that would have otherwise been uniquely mine. Or maybe I would have just purchased something with hello kitty on it at walmart and added a sucker. That's also entirely possible. :-) But will Pinterest ultimately make the world more homogenous, kind of like fast food chains and big box retail have done to towns? No, I don't think it's a crisis, just a thought.
Anyway, so the nails were fun and I can't wait to try other colors. If you haven't tried it you should! The nails, that is. And let me know if you're on Pinterest, we can be "creative" together.

If I don't want to get on pinterest, will you please tell me how you did the nails. (or send the link)
Absolutely! Here's a youtube movie I watched and a link to a photo tutorial. I did three nails then added more polish to finish the last two. Then I started over for the other hand. Definitely use tape on your fingers, it's lots easier to clean up!

ps, I just used tap water, too.
Laura- Good job on the many posts! I do love Pinterest! Thanks for commenting on my blog too! Hopefully we can keep it up! :)
Pinterest is the mighty black hole of time on my computer. I love it a little too much. I actually won't join for that sole purpose. I just search like a mad-woman. I'm pretty sure whatever creativity I had has been sucked out and replaced with other people's ideas, which I'm perfectly ok with since, as it turns out, their ideas are way better anyway. ;) And thanks for posting the candy bar molds. I didn't know they made those- they're now on the list. And if I were on Pinterest, I'd repin'em.
