Tornado!

Okay, so I think we need to stay in Missouri for holidays from now on. We leave, and it all falls apart weather-wise as we've missed the worst of every bad storm since we've lived here while on vacation from the state. This Christmas I thought the streak may have broken when I heard about the 60 degree temperatures in January, but I should have known better. Just after that glorious day the tornadoes set in, and I'm glad I heard about it all after the fact! I guess they had touchdowns in a few areas around Saint Louis, most notably in Sunset Hills. However upon our return I learned one touched down much, much closer to us. The gold star represents our home, the orange is the tornado. For those of you who have been to our house you'll see the touchdown was in the golf course just south of us which is nothing short of a miracle. I imagine angels around the storm guiding it away from people as much as possible, because it literally tore some old trees up by their roots, messed with the shingles on a few of the surrounding homes, and then was off again. People living around us didn't even know it hit! I mean, look at all those residential streets... and it touched down in the golf course. Tender mercies, folks.

On another note: Eeek! I have a camera again!!! Christmas pictures to come!

I'm so glad it did so little damage; I was praying for all my friends in that area when I heard the tornado had gone through there. I didn't know it was so close to you! Whew. And, yes, we sure paid a price for those lovely 60-degree days...
