Organization
Here you have what's left of our fun FHE last night, and my morning's work yesterday. I know, it's beautiful, right? After mowing the back lawn I decided to just mow down one of our overgrown ivy beds. It was so full of buried bricks and pavers it didn't take long to come up with a good (albeit temporary) use for them. We enjoyed our new firepit last night and christened it with hotdogs and marshmallows, the way any good firepit should be christened. We sang our favorite church songs, told scary (and otherwise) stories, and began our week of organization in preparation for conference this weekend. The plan is that every night this week will be a mini FHE we'll use to talk about some part of our family life we're hoping to organize - hence the charts. Tonight we'll talk about morning routines. Tomorrow night will be household chores. Then we'll hit TV/video games, FHE and family councils and the finale Friday night will be the perennial inviting and keeping the spirit in our home lesson. Obviously we'll be taking baby steps in each category, and some categories need an overhaul and some only slight corrections, but it's meant to be a boot camp of sorts. I'm praying for some inspiration this weekend and for the kids to hear something at conference that will help motivate them as well. In my wildest dreams by Monday we'll be a picture of efficiency, at least for a while. If the goals last at least as long as the firepit I'll consider them both a success, but at least I'll have that visual reminder for both each time it's used this fall.

Sounds great! I can't even count all the times when my kids were little that I "started over" so to speak with great goals (and expectations). A word to the wise--I learned that expectations usually lead to frustration, so don't expect too much. Remember: Come what may, and love it.
Yeah, I have trouble expecting my kids to do things I don't do very well on my own... like sticking to a schedule. But we're going to try again. :-)
