Chez Laura...

We had Grandma and Grandpa over for dinner Sunday night, and afterward walked up to the park for a bit. I think some of these pictures turned out great, and although like always, Justin teased me mercilessly about taking so many pictures, I had to post a few of these that I really feel to be fantastic memories.

This morning we had a "salon" at our house... for someone who never got into barbie dolls, I really LOVE having little girls! We took a bar stool from the kitchen and set it up in the bathroom, and I pretended to be the stylist. The girls picked out what to do with their hair, and we talked about how life was going and what they were up to these days while I did the styling. We did mousse, hairspray and the works. Audrey was a curling iron girl, while Izzie preferred velcro rollers and the hairdryer. We set up the camera and tested out my timer - which was a first for me, as you can tell by the way I systematically clipped the top of my head. That's not cropping, it's just poor aim. After the photos we did nails and then went to lunch with Grandma and Linda Anderson (Behrmann), so it was fun to show off these cute little girls and catch up!

If I could cut myself out of this picture, I promise I would. There's just something scary about the number of chins there... not a flattering shot in the least. But those girls are so dang cute, maybe you won't notice.

I was a little surprised at how non-blonde I've become over the years! I mean, I knew I wasn't as light as they are, but the picture still got to me... I guess I've missed my chance to go platinum and pull it off. :-)

Love all the pics! I was happy to see a picture of you in there. You're a nut. You look great. In my mind you and Shelly will always be total blondes and of course you could still go platnium, you have the coloring to pull it off.

I am jealous that you are in Utah and close to family. I love the picture of your mom. I miss you guys!

And the one of Audryy with the cape, priceless!

PS One more thing. My family is headed to Nauvoo next week for spring break and will be going to St. Louis for a day. I told my mom I should go to the source of all knowledge of the city- YOU! What are some "must do" things they can't miss?

You can email me cnjackson@hotmail.com or them at sgnlln@gmail.com

Thanks!

Cheryl, I should point out just for you that the cup on the table in the background is where I keep all my dandelion "gifts". We just fill a cup with water, and since most of the flowers come in with their heads-only and no stem, we just drop them in. Izzie came in yesterday with a handful, all excited to tell me we were getting a lot of them out front! I guess I know what we'll be doing this weekend....

Laughing here. I have dirt under my fingernails as I type since I just came in from my daily digging. I am ebarassed to say that while I had kept up on my side (the the neighbors too) where my kitchen window is, when I ventured out to the side of the house (we have a sloped back so I can't see down next to the house) it was an eye sore! Yuck!

As I was digging I was laughing because I thought here you hate crab grass and if I even got started on that I would have NO grass at all. Forget all the hype about the bluegrass out here. It's all crab grass in my book. It's itchy, spiky and ugly. I guess that's what you get when you have to rely on mother nature to water it all (no sprinklers here!)

Also, when Matt walks down the hill from school he picks dandelion after dandelion for me. I just cleaned yesterday batch out the van this afternoon. Enjoy your beautiful boquets. I'll think of you next time (OK, tomorrow) when I start the weed hunt once more...

If you didn't have more than one chin, I just might have to hate you.... :-) I'm just glad you finally posted a picture of yourself. I was starting to forget what you looked like. OK, not really. But it is great to see beautiful you occasionally.

I'm having a great moment of self-pity. (Sniff, sniff...the life of the ultimate girly-girl with no girls.) Anytime, your little darlings want to play in the make-up, give me a call!

PS Sorry to BUG you once again, but first, I realized I spelled Audrey's name wrong on my first comment. I thought I was typing it right, but got an extra y instead of an e. I really should re-read what I type because I know I usually end up looking like an idiot. Really I just with they had a spell check for comments!

LOVED all the St. Louis info. I sent you an email back. You are the best. THANK YOU!

Pictures are well-guarded around here. It was traumatic enough to move back to a place where there was some chance of running into pepole I know... I know, it's silly, but I guess I'm paranoid like that.

I love the idea of a salon...I need to try that with miss M - and please tell me about velcro curlers, because she and Izzy have about the same length of hair, and maybe (just maybe!) I could convince Madeleine to let me curl it! :)
You are so amazing and gorgeous - you need to tell yourself that all the time! So...make sure that you play salon again and have your girls dress you up for the closing social tomorrow!
Oh, and I can't forget because I had wanted a picture after your description of Audrey in Target...thank you for including that picture - so beyond cute!

Laura,
That first picture you got of Grandma with the kids is AWESOME!!!! I always love getting good grandparent shots because I know they won't be around forever and want the kids to have something that will help them always remember.

And whatever about the multiple chins--you look great! You have the most infectious smile that you should be plastering pictures everywhere for all of us who could use a little help getting out the grumpiness :)

Kim, you're so sweet, thank you! I really have great friends. I'm going to miss you guys when you leave!

Summer - velcro curlers, they're great! I think they're more for body, but you can get small ones that curl pretty well. You dry their hair, then put them in while their hair is still warm to set the curl - no iron heat involved! For whatever the reason, she likes them better, and I use them on both girls to curl their bangs for church. It's fast and easy - for bangs I can put them in as we're walking out the door and by the time we get to church they're decently curled, even if we pigtail the back. Love them!

I finally found you! Sorry it's taken me so long.

Love all of your pictures. Having a salon with the girls sounds like a lot of fun. Are your girls into the American Girls (I think that's what they're called)? I went to the store in New York and they have a real salon that you can take your doll to to have her hair done, and yes it costs money. I couldn't believe how many people were in line waiting for their dolls' hair to get done. It was crazy!
