This takes two people, so if you're the one in need, you'll need a friend. I've found my five-year-old works in a pinch. The person with the hiccups needs to drink a glass of water while the other person places a finger just in front of each of the hiccuping person's ears. The right spot is kind of an indentation just above where your jaw comes together, about the middle of your ears. There needs to be some pressure there, so if you're doing this part you should be able to feel the huccuping person swallow when they drink the water. Is this making sense? I don't know why this works, but it really does. One glass of water and they're gone. My kids call it "The Magic Trick" and it's suddenly a fun event when someone gets the hiccups. And honestly, it's not really so bad when you know you can get rid of them! (the hiccups, not the kids...) Try it!

That's crazy! I am glad you shared. Hiccups are so annoying. Next time one of us is suffering from the, we'll use your magic trick!
Sammy always seems to have the hiccups, so I will definitely give it a try, although I'm not exactly sure the exact spot to put your fingers, but we'll figure it out. Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how it goes when we try it.
So, I just had the hiccups and gave it a try. It's been a couple of minutes and sure enough, they're gone. Do you think it's a mental thing? Anyway, thank you!
I'm so glad! I don't know why it works, but it's worked for us every time. You'll have to see if it works sometime on your new little one - maybe when your hubby's around so one of you can get her drinking and one can touch her jaw - if it works, we know it's not just psychological! ;-)
Alright, I've been getting the hiccups all day today. I just tried it again, and it didn't work this time. I don't know if we got the right spot or not, but we tried it two different times. I'll try it again.
That's so funny you've been getting hiccups all day - what a coincidence! I edited the description of where to put your fingers - does that help? It's kind of in front of where the top of my earlobe meets my cheek - if you put your finger there you can kind of feel yourself swallow.
Yay!! You have a blog!! Thank you for sending me the Annual Christmas Letter! I am so glad that you guys are doing well!!
Hi Laura!
Thanks for the hiccup tip. I get hiccups at least once a week. I hope that isn't a lot for an adult!
