Random Thoughts

I had a "random thought" day today, for some reason, and wanted to write a couple down.

#1 - Nobody cares how well you cleaned yourself in the shower if upon stepping out you put on the same stinky clothes. Our lives are full of repentance and rebirth – heading out in a new direction. However, many of us after a good brief start or good intentions fail to fully complete the transformation, retaining old habits, friends, or haunts that gave us the smell in the first place.

#2 - The Spirit of the Lord is like a large glass lens through which we see the world. When we are distant, the picture we see becomes blurred and harder to distinguish. The kind acts of others, their sorrows or true intents can be misconstrued – or possibly just missed. It’s easier to become self-centered because it’s all we feel we can truly see, and are comfortable looking at. Even our testimonies can seem blurred. However, when we situate ourselves closer to the lens, things suddenly become focused. We are better able to interpret the world and our place in it. We are more grateful, patient, and kind. We see the struggles of others for what they truly are, and are in a position to be able to help. Maintaining the proper distance to this lens is, consequently, imperative to healthy personal relationships because whether we like it or not, as spiritual creatures we will always be part of a two-some with the Lord, and will always be influence by the life we see with our spiritual eyes.
