Summer trip to the Zoo...

Matt's favorite part of the Zoo was the hippos. Mine too! I love that no matter what the weather you can always count on seeing the hippos. The kids got lucky this time, too, because when we first arrived at the exhibit they were in one corner with a huge crowd of people smushed in around them. Impossible to see anything. Matt could look at the fish all day long, however, and his turned out to be the best view ever when all four hippos bored of their previous position and migrated by in front of him. He kept saying "Wow!" over and over. Too cute! And no, the stomach in the reflection is NOT mine.

This one came right up to say hi to Izzie and Maeve. They got right up close and personal to its nostrils and teeth.

Of course, even with that excitement Izzie's favorite part was the butterfly house. She made friends with a certain blue morpho who apparently pegged her for a banana. Or at least for a bug lover, which is true.

And finally, all three mapreaders. They did a great job navigating us through the zoo!

I do love the Saint Louis Zoo, and the weather was beautiful this day. We lucked out, and walked our legs off. In fact, I know a few girls who slept in the car most of the way home. :-)
