Happy 29 again!!!

I. LOVE. BIRTHDAYS. Especially my own. Maybe it will come, but at this point I have no hesitation at all about turning a year older. I like to think I've resigned myself to wrinkles and stuff, but I think it's because at this point in my life I'm still able to do all the things I enjoy on a daily basis. I'm not worried about a ticking biological clock. I already have wrinkles but I haven't discovered any gray hairs yet. I'm just really comfortable in my life - ups and downs and all. Kind of like your favorite pair of sweats, but still hot. I like to think this dillusional state (albeit a happy one) comes from the amazing family and friends I'm blessed to have, and I'll keep them as long as they'll let me!

Just a quick note on the festivities. My birthday is so close to Mother's Day it sometimes turns into one long week of pampering mom. Justin's never combined the holidays, although it wouldn't really be a bad thing if he did. He's very careful to lead the kids in celebrating both, so it's a lot of fun. The picture sums up my presents pretty well - new telescope (which I LOVE!!! SO much better than tv at night!), token chocolates (he does understand what makes the world go round), and the pineapple in the corner aptly sums up my wonderful girls' trip to HAWAII last month. Call it an early gift, but Justin stayed home with the kids for 10 days while I sunned on the beaches of Oahu with my mom and sister and fabulous female cousins and family. How do you beat that? I feel like the big winner in one of those gameshows that take nothing but luck to win. As the final wonderful surprise at the end, he also built me a new, raised and fully-enclosed-to-keep-out-the-rodents-large-and-small garden plot! I can't wait to fill it up this week! I am such a lucky girl.
