Okay, now bravado aside, I'll go to bed tonight hoping I did the right thing and I'll probably have nightmares about infections and scar tissue. Sigh. But she seems to be sleeping well and her pupils dilate, so I guess she's probably fine.

Nurse Mom.
So, I super glued my first split laceration this evening. (Shelly, is that right? I learned that term on Wikipedia.) Audrey was roller skating in the kitchen and now sports a shiny new inch-and-a-half-long cut above her eyebrow as a result of an unfortunate collision with the table. Sorry, no pictures. The cut was clean and straight, albeit a little deep, but hardly bled at all. I was going to run her down to be stitched but Justin wasn't home so I instead decided to forgo the four to five hour emergency room visit for something less traumatic. This didn't sting or hurt and involved no needles (sewing or otherwise). And we were done and bandaged in a matter of minutes. I held the laceration together and applied krazy glue over the top of it. I continued to hold it while it dried and when done it really seemed to be as good as new. I put a couple of steri strips over the dried glue for good measure and added a littlest petshop bandaid for fashion, and tada - we were done!

That's how I used to close up some of the surgeries I did when I worked on rats in a lab. It really does work great!
Way to go!! A couple weeks ago, Ali had a tripped into Emma's dresser and had a cut above her eye in her eyebrow...we went to the ER. And what you described, that is what they did! :) So, just think, you saved 5 hours and $150 copay! :)
Thanks you guys, I do feel a little better! I peeled back the bandaid today to see how things were coming, and so far so good - no ugly red infectious swelling or anything. Alanna, I'm so sorry to hear about your trip! We've done that and it's really a pain.
Way to go! So, should I get super glue for my First Aid Kit? Actually what First Aid kit, here I have two boys and I don't even really have a kit! Is it jinxing it to get one, or silly not to have one?!
Wow, you really are a supermom.
Summer, I totally laughed at you not jinxing things by not buying a first aid kit! That one's up to you, but I carry bandaids everywhere. Not that my kids bleed that much, but I do have at least one drama queen and fits are often quelled quickly by a little princess tattoo. With boys, probably not so much of an issue.
Amy - supermom or super lazy? Seriously, it was all about avoiding the ER. :-)
