This week we joined the Cardinal Nation cheering on our team against the Mets - two nights in a row! The kids had a ball, and I think by the end of game two had a pretty good grasp of what was going on. The Cards won the first night, and we left a little early (kids were bouncing off their seats), but the next evening when they were getting killed we stayed to the end! We also took the kiddos on the Metrolink for the first time, and I'm pretty sure they enjoyed that ALMOST as much as the games themselves.
Cheesing it up before Game #1.
What's a baseball game without a hotdog? Audrey certainly enjoyed hers! And her slushee... and the popcorn...
Erick did his best to think "strikes!" for the pitcher, but somehow this evening it just wasn't working as well as the night before. We did see a few homeruns, which made the evening worth it for Izzie. She's all about the fireworks and is stoked for the 4th!
The kids wore full Cardinal regalia the second night. We got the tickets from Purina and sat in a special section called "Redbird Club". Wearin Red was kind of mandatory, it seems. Izzie says it's her favorite shirt ever now. It has #5 on the back, so she cheered on Albert Pujols especially well. Too bad he wasn't hitting homers that night - all of Cardinal Nation is at the edge of their seats waiting for that #300 ball. Even Audrey had fun, and we were among the last to leave the stadium. And the last in line to get on the Metrolink. And probably almost the last ones home. But it was totally worth it!

I love baseball. There's nothing like a nice baseball game on a great evening in the summer. And, as you said, what's baseball without a hotdog. I'm glad you're training your kids early.
Unfortunately, the only baseball we've had this season is Kimball playing T-ball. Not quite the same, but pretty darn fun.
