Well, one of the real perks to living in the city this summer is that we're within walking distance of some pretty fun things, including the Zoo! Because it's free we've been multiple times, and it's been a lot of fun to see all the baby animals there this year. We've seen the baby giraffe, elephant, tigers, jaguars, prarie dogs, wild donkeys, a few baby monkeys and some kind of furry mountain goat with twins. I honestly can't remember what it was called, but they were cute! My favorite zoo babies, of course, are those I take home with me. ;-)
The kids at the sea lion show. I kept looking around here at the people in attendance who didn't have kids, and thought about how lucky I am to have these cute excuses to see the sea lions. They make it so much more fun than it would be if it were just me and my hubby. I mean, sure, they have their moments. Someone always needs to use the bathroom an hour after I ask, and someone is always hungry, tired, or thirsty. But for some reason it's so worth it when the sea lions jump out of the water to ring the bell and the kids are all absolutely thrilled and amazed, and talk about it all afternoon. I'm going to miss our playground days when they're done!
Audrey and dad on the carousel. Erick had a hippo, and Izzie's was a tiger. The ride is beautiful, old, and historic to Saint Louis, and of course it's always a highlight.
Izzie and Erick had a ball the day we met up with our friends Emmy and Erin from our O'Fallon days. They came with their neighbors, who became new friends quickly, and everyone had a ball! Audrey was asleep in the stroller, which made this section of the trip rather relaxing for me, too! Happy memories. :-)
And the baby elephant... how do you not post something so cute? He took a bath while we were there and was completely adorable. Oh! And add to the list a hyper baby hippo that thrilled the kids by swimming right up next to the window repeatedly. The water was murky, so he'd kind of just... appear. The kids screamed and laughed totally delighted, and I was glad for the thick glass.
